Discovering their Armenian identity, learning Armenian, being impactful, and being able to give back to the community are a few of the reasons volunteers join the program. For our volunteer, Annie Nazari, the recent war was all the more reason to come to Armenia.
Annie is currently helping our team with social media marketing. She moved from Iran to Gyumri, Armenia 6 months ago. “During my time here, I have had the chance to work with different organizations and museums as an English teacher, translator, and a marketing intern, a life changing experience that influenced my life in different ways as much as I tried to make an impact. Volunteering in Gyumri gave me an entire new picture of Armenian identity and culture. I think this volunteering experience will always be an unforgettable part of my life where I made a lot of Armenian diaspora friends and lived with them as a big family in one of the most beautiful cities of Armenia, ” she says.
Annie is now hoping to find a job in marketing by the end of her volunteering program to stay in Armenia. She believes that the knowledge she is gaining right now will make her stand a better chance of getting a job. Moreover, she expects that her experience with Himnark will help her assimilate into Armenian work culture and ease her transition from a volunteer to a working citizen.
